Valle Guadiana Tournament Results 2022

For a second consecutive year, Valle Guadiana Links – a magnificent course designed by José Canales and located at the mouth of the Guadiana river (Ayamonte, Huelva) – provided a brilliant conclusion to the qualifying stage of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit. This is the 12th year of the annual circuit, which offers the main prize of five week-long trips to the Dominican Republic.

Next stop is the grand finale at La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort on 24 September, followed by a gala dinner at Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús.

The La Hacienda Alcaidesa event was the 26th of the 12th edition of the Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic PGA Ocean's 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit, organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine.

It is one of the premier open amateur circuits held in Spain, for both the number of events and the quality of the courses where it is played. Its success is further highlighted by the fact that places in the vast majority of tournaments are sold out well in advance.

Valle Guadiana Links belongs to the same group as Isla Canela Golf, a well-established parkland-style course, which also has a charming and cosy hotel that, in addition to being located in the middle of holes 17 and 18, is also close to the beach. Some of the players in this last qualifying leg of the Circuit stayed at the hotel and were especially delighted as they had the opportunity to play both courses.

It is always a wonderfully pleasant experience to play this links course, masterfully managed by Tino Cordero, with the invaluable help of director of operations José Luis Marquez.

Osamah El Rubaidi Abdullah won category one (with 41 points), followed by Gonzalo Jiménez-Fontes Rey (40) and Roberto González Villa (38). In category two, the top three finishers were Angelika Grandi (40 points), Alicia María Díaz Díaz (38) and José Labella Martinez (also 38).

Scratch winner Javier Vázquez Postigo totalled 39 points. The prize for closest to the pin was won by Gonzalo Cabot Cienfuegos, while the longest drive prizes went to Isabel Pérez de Seoane Álvarez de Toledo and Juan Galiana Calero.

The scratch winner and top three finishers in each category received trophies and prizes including cases of wine from the Enate, Lau and Sommos bodegas (D.O. Somontano), and one dozen Bridgestone balls.

The Circuit’s grand finale, which will decide the five winners of trips to the Dominican Caribbean, will be held at La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort on 24 September, followed by a gala dinner at Gran Hotel Guadalpín Banús.

Access to the final will be direct for the winners of each category and the leading scratch player in all the qualifying tournaments, while the rest of the places in the final will be awarded based on the Benahavís Ranking, calculated from points obtained in each leg.
